I have 19 years of post-qualification experience. I specialise in defending professionals and students facing disciplinary action or fitness to practise investigations.

I have a wide range of experience including in front of the General Medical Council, General Dental Council, Health and Care Professions Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, General Optical Council, General Chiropractic Council, Social Work England, NHS England, the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, Solicitor’s Regulatory Authority, the Royal Chartered Institute of Surveyors, Badminton England, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

I have represented hospital doctors investigated in accordance with Maintaining High Professional Standards and other healthcare professionals under the Performer’s Lists Regulations. I have assisted professionals involved in criminal investigations and interviews under caution. I have also represented students in front of University Panel Hearings.

Examples of fitness to practice or fitness to study cases which I have defended have included allegations of dishonesty, plagiarism, sexual misconduct, acting beyond scope of practice, fraud, performance and health concerns.

I have advised professionals in whistle blowing, defamation and harassment cases. Further examples of my work include defending an expert witness against complex professional negligence allegations against him. I have advised a professional badminton player under investigation by Badminton England over safeguarding issues.

I have advocated in the coroner’s courts at medical inquests representing healthcare professionals called to give evidence, and also in front of NHSE disciplinary boards and in front of the First Tier Tribunals, the HCPC and the GMC.

I have advised in other matters including commercial contracts in the healthcare sector, employment, education, professional crime, civil litigation, data protection and third party disclosures.
I have advised individuals and organisations including NHS Trusts, NHSE, and primary care settings in relation to relevant statutory frameworks concerning compliance, procedures and contractual issues. I have considered and advised upon risk assessments, consent forms, clinical compliance, audits and remedial action required to improve medical and dental practices, and in retraining and retraining of professionals, following concerns raised.
